Why Connect Vies to EasyWorship?

EasyWorship is already the projection software in thousands of churches worldwide. Your worship team knows it, your slides are built in it, and your service schedule lives there. Vies does not try to replace any of that. Instead, it plugs into EasyWorship and adds one new capability: when a Bible verse is referenced during the sermon, Vies types it into EasyWorship’s scripture search automatically.

The result? Verses appear on your projection screens without anyone touching the keyboard.

Before You Start

You will need two things:

  1. Vies installed on the same computer running EasyWorship. Grab it from the download page if you have not already.
  2. EasyWorship open and running, with the Scriptures tab visible.

Both applications must be running on the same machine. Vies integrates directly with EasyWorship on the same computer. There is no network setup, no plugin to install, and nothing to configure inside EasyWorship.

On first launch, Vies downloads AI models (466 MB to 1.5 GB depending on your chosen quality tier). Make sure this is done before your first service — you do not want to be downloading during the sermon.

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Launch EasyWorship First

Open EasyWorship and make sure you are on the Scriptures tab in the resource library. This is important because Vies looks for the scripture search field, and that field only exists when the Scriptures tab is active.

2. Open Vies and Go to Scripture Listener

Launch Vies and navigate to Scripture Listener from the home screen. This is the real-time transcription view.

3. Enable the EasyWorship Toggle

In the Scripture Listener toolbar, you will see an EasyWorship integration toggle. Turn it on. Vies will attempt to locate the EasyWorship main window. If it finds it, you will see a confirmation indicator.

If Vies cannot find EasyWorship, double-check that EasyWorship is actually running and not minimized to the system tray.

4. Start Listening

Hit the start button and begin speaking (or start your sermon recording). When Vies detects a verse reference, it will:

  • Find EasyWorship’s scripture search field
  • Type the reference (e.g., “john 3 16”)
  • Let EasyWorship’s incremental search resolve the passage

You will see the verse appear in EasyWorship’s preview pane. From there, your projection operator can push it live with a single click, or you can configure EasyWorship to auto-go.

How the Automation Works

Vies simulates the same keystrokes a human operator would type into EasyWorship’s scripture search field, but faster and without human lag. It types each character individually so that EasyWorship’s incremental search updates in real time, exactly as if someone were sitting at the keyboard. No plugins or modifications to EasyWorship are needed.

Tips for Reliable Operation

Keep the Scriptures tab active. If someone switches to the Songs or Media tab in EasyWorship mid-sermon, the scripture search field disappears and Vies will not be able to send verses until you switch back.

Use a direct audio feed. The better the audio quality feeding into Vies, the more accurate the transcription. A direct line from your mixing desk beats a room microphone every time. Background music, air conditioning hum, and congregation noise all reduce accuracy.

Watch the transcript pane. Vies shows you the live transcript as it processes audio. If you notice transcription errors, try adjusting the speech recognition settings. You can choose between three engine tiers — Best (1.5 GB, GPU required), Standard (834 MB), and Lite (466 MB, no GPU needed) — depending on your hardware.

Enable Voice Activity Detection. VAD filters out hymns, background noise, and silence between preaching segments. Turn it on in Scripture Listener settings to reduce false triggers when the minister is not actively speaking.

Adjust cooldown timers if needed. Preachers often repeat a reference multiple times while expounding on a passage. The default cooldown prevents Vies from flooding EasyWorship with duplicate searches. If your minister moves through verses quickly, you may want to shorten the cooldown in settings.

What If the Verse Does Not Appear?

A few things to check:

  • Is EasyWorship on the Scriptures tab? Vies needs that tab active.
  • Is the minister saying the reference clearly? Check the transcript pane in Vies to see what it heard.
  • Is the confidence threshold too high? Lower it in settings if Vies is being too conservative.
  • Did the verse just fire? The cooldown timer may be blocking a repeat detection. Wait a few seconds and try again.

Using Vies Without EasyWorship

If you do not use EasyWorship, Vies has other output options. You can project verses through an NDI stream to OBS or vMix, use the built-in floating overlay window, or set up FreeShow as a free projection alternative. The Scripture Listener works independently of which output method you choose.
